Dr. Daniel Prince moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in 2012.
Hi, I’m Dr. Daniel Prince. My wife and I opened Prince Chiropractic Wellness Center in Edmond Oklahoma in 2012. However, our story begins when I drove my grandmother to a doctor to find relief from jaw pain in 1995. It was a 30 minute drive and she whimpered the whole way there. We arrived at the doctor’s office and we had a brief wait in their reception area. An older gentleman wearing a long white lab coat greeted her with a smile and escorted her from reception to a treatment room. Moments later she exited the room smiling, laughing and gladly paying the receptionist. I was shocked. He must have seen the surprise on my face. He invited me to a electrified spinal poster that hung on the wall. He pushed a button on the spinal column and it illuminated. He explained that he simply removed nerve pressure. I thought that was cool and forgot about the incident until one year later. It was the winter of 1996 and my mom and I were in a car crash. A friend insisted that we go see her chiropractor. I thought I didn’t need to see the chiropractor but I tagged along because my mom didn’t like driving after the crash and she had complaints of headaches and neck pain. While waiting in the reception of another doctor’s office I saw a familiar poster. I leaned over and asked my mom: “Did grandma see a chiropractor for her jaw problem?”. Indeed he was, she said.
I joined the Air Force in 1998 serving in Korea and southern California. In 2001 I developed severe shoulder pain that woke me up at night. I was grumpy and wasn’t sleeping. Work was becoming increasingly difficult. Finally, my doctor ordered an MRI and I was diagnosed with shoulder impingement. They prescribed Vioxx. Thankfully, I didn’t like the side effects so I quit taking it. I’m so grateful I did because a few years later they pulled the drug from the market because it caused heart problems, strokes and deaths. Unfortunately, physical therapy didn’t help either. So Air Force and civilian doctors recommended a surgery where a portion of my clavicle (collar bone) would be removed.
However, I wanted relief without drugs or surgery. One evening I was in the gym looking for an exercise solution to what I now know was a chiropractic problem. My friends and I were griping about our aches and pains when a second lieutenant suggested that I see a chiropractor. I exclaimed: “What would a chiropractor know about a shoulder problem?” To which he replied: “You might be surprised.” I began to reflect on the experience my grandmother had and the relief my mom experienced after the car crash.
Months later I completed my tour of duty. I returned to my hometown Springfield IL. I immediately enrolled in college and scheduled an appointment with my hometown chiropractor Dr Gene Sullivan in Chatham Illinois. He asked me about my college plans and spent nearly 30 minutes with me explaining the good and the bad of chiropractic. He was encouraging and helpful. Eventually, my pain began to diminish as I no longer had to perform repetitive work with vibratory tools in confined spaces as an Air Force mechanic. However, the pain continued to gnaw on me to the point I stopped exercising. Within one year of my honorable discharge I enrolled in chiropractic college. It was during my first semester I attended a student lead club where a Gonstead Trained chiropractor named Dr Rich Nasaab taught us about the five part Gonstead analysis. My friend Thien Nguyen was in the class with me. Through the Gonstead analysis Thien identified a T4 subluxation. Under the supervision of experienced practitioners he corrected the T4 on a knee chest table. To my utter amazement I experienced immediate relief from a Gonstead chiropractic adjustment delivered by a student.
I decided to pursue the science, art and philosophy of Gonstead Chiropractic. I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose California in the fall of 2006. I was fortunate enough to receive ample training in the Gonstead method of chiropractic analysis. Following graduation I accepted a position at a Gonstead Chiropractic Clinic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That is where I met my wife Erin. She too is a gonstead trained chiropractor and attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa. Eventually we started a family. We were spending a lot of time traveling to visit her family in Oklahoma. That’s when we got the urge to move closer to her family. So in 2012 we moved our growing family and opened up Prince Chiropractic Wellness Center in Edmond Oklahoma. We’re so grateful for those six years in New Mexico. It’s been over ten years and a lot has changed. Our family has grown. We now have five beautiful children. Erin works from home running the house, homeschooling and keeping the office running smoothly. We’ve hired more doctors to meet a growing need for Gonstead chiropractic care in our community. We have now helped over 3000 Oklahoma families find relief from neck pain, back pain, indigestion, ear infections, bed wetting and more. In addition to my clinical hours, I’m now a published author and lecturer in the US and abroad to audiences on the chiropractic management of pediatric and adult sports injuries.
